TPR (temperature pressure relief) valves are found on hot water heaters and boilers. These valves are designed to automatically release water in the event that the pressure or temperature in the tank exceeds safe levels. This water will be extremely hot, if the valve in this photo discharges it could scald anyone nearby. A proper extension should terminate within 6” from the floor. This is a common safety hazard! Take a look at your hot water heater or boiler and make sure the kiddos, pets or anyone in the area are safe.
